Meridian Trading Company is a family-rooted trading house operating out of Guangzhou, the commercial heart of the Pearl River Delta. We exist to give Western importers the same on-the-ground advantage that local buyers have had for decades.
The Meridian story didn't start in 2016. It started decades earlier in Yiwu, where our founder's father built a trading business from the ground up — sourcing small goods for buyers across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. We grew up in warehouses, sample rooms, and factory floors.
Meridian is the next chapter: the same relationship-driven trading ethos, but reoriented around Western importers who need transparent processes, English-language documentation, and compliance expectations that match their home markets.
We're not a platform. We're not an app. We're a team of trading professionals who pick up the phone, visit the factory, and answer to you.
You see every factory quote, every inspection report, every piece of documentation. We don't mark up invisibly, and we don't hide behind "supplier confidentiality." Our margin is disclosed up front.
When something goes wrong — and occasionally it will — we don't point at the factory. We own the problem and resolve it. That's what you're paying a trading partner for.
We'd rather work with 20 clients for 10 years than 200 clients for one order. Every decision we make is filtered through whether it's sustainable for the relationship.
Born into the trading business in Yiwu, Ali founded Meridian to bring modern sourcing practices to Western importers. Splits his time between Guangzhou and the factories of the Pearl River Delta.

Meridian opens its doors with three people and a handful of referrals from the Yiwu family network. First clients were Australian homeware importers.

While many sourcing agents collapsed, our in-country presence let us continue factory audits and QC when buyers couldn't travel. We grew.
We open a UK-based client success office to serve European buyers in their own time zone and currency.
A North American counterpart opens in Texas, led by a former Amazon FBA brand operator.
Our audited supplier network crosses 400 factories across twelve categories. New website launches.
